Current workMathematical modeling and experimental determination of the interruption threshold in study
A mathematical model of when to stop studying. Performance decays inside a session; a pause costs time but restores some of it. Measuring both curves turns "when should I stop?" into a computable question — and the data has already forced one correction to the classical model.
- Whether accumulated gain saturates, as the foraging model assumes — seven independent fits say it does not
- Whether fatigue shows up in executing mastered procedures or in encoding new content
- How much of the fatigue a five-minute pause actually gives back
- Whether the fatigue parameters reproduce across sessions of the same task
